ABOUT THE AUTHOR

 

Mr. Kilham comes from a family with over 120 patents. Larry began in inventions as a systems engineer at Arthur D. Little, Inc. in the 1960’s for a highly classified Navy world-wide sonar surveillance project. His group studied the invention process in military systems design. He also worked in the firm’s invention management practice helping clients with their inventions, patents and commercialization.

He is a holder or co-holder of three patents and was jointly awarded the IR-100 award in 1986 (one of the 100 most significant technical products in the USA).

Mr. Kilham has founded three companies and worked for seven more in instrumentation and machinery. He has been a consultant to six firms in high-tech product strategy. Mr. Kilham has published over 15 articles and papers in technical journals and has addressed professional associations on a variety of his technical developments. Mr. Kilham is a member of IOA (International Ozone Association) and ACS (American Chemical Society).

             Larry Kilham has a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from the University of Colorado and a master's degree in management from M.I.T. Currently he is a corporate director and is involved with several Santa Fe institutes focused on creativity and complexity. He summarized his ideas and his recommendations to entrepreneurs in a book self-published in 2001, Great Idea to a Great Company: Making Inventions Pay.
